The music of Alice Di Micele is best described as
indie/alternative/acoustic/folk/rock but words cannot accurately describe what she does.
Her five octave voice is at times soft and sweet and then rages and wails with a depth not
often reached by contemporary singer/songwriters. With beautifully simple, staightforward,
and heartfelt lyrics that address real life, Alice's music is refreshingly rhythmic and
incorporates world music and jazz with folk, rock, and alternative music. She has released six recordings on her Independent label Alice Otter Music
and has participated in many other recordings as vocalist, guitarist, percussionist, and
producer.
A fun and relaxed performer, Di Micele has wowed audiences from her
native New Jersey to her home in Oregon to the UK with her amazing voice, engaging guitar
playing, and her knack for encouraging audience participation. She has played at many
folk, women's music, and Earth Day festivals as well as other assorted music fairs and
festivals. Alice has also performed at Environmentalist gatherings, eco-feminist and
feminist conferences, and many political protests and rallies.

A Few Words
This young lady is not only prolific, she is very good at what she does as well. Obviously, she has spent a great deal of time perfecting her art as any professional would. I was much impressed with her versatility and ease of deliverance of her finely crafted lyrics and guitar work...Alice will be around a while I'm certain...A must hear acoustic artist!

Biography
Oregon recording artist and performer Alice Di
Micele celebrates the release of her sixth recording on her Alice Otter Music label.
Demons & Angels is an 11song journey into the soul and struggle of the singer. With a
fluid five octave vocal range she "weeps the blues, rolls rock, and scats jazz,
sometimes all in one song."(Currents Magazine) Touring the national singer,
songwriter circuit, New Jersey born Di Micele has shared the stage with such notable and
diverse talents as Bonnie Raitt, Peter Rowan, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Michele
Schocked, Richie Havens, Janis Ian, David Lindley, Mickey Hart, Bob Weir, and Ferron. One
performance prompted Jonel Aleccia of the Medford Mail Tribune to write "her huge,
throaty voice echoed off the hills...Her voice is an amazing instrument, especially when
used to acappella advantage...."
Alice has released five albums on her Alice Otter Music label to rave reviews and
international radio airplay. Music critic Lee Hildebrand of the EAST BAY EXPRESS said of
her fifth recording, "The Oregon based folk singer-guitarist's voice recalls Rory
Block's in it's gorgeous elasticity and Tracy Chapman's in it's warm resonance...Naked is
highly recommended..."
She recently produced an album of women's spiritual circle songs for EarthBeat! Records.
Circle of Women features Alice Di Micele, Freyda Epstein (formerly of Trapezoid), Eloiuse
Burrell (member of Linda Tillery's Cultural Heritage Choir, and Amandla Poets), Ghourd
Recording Artist She lley Phillips, Windsong, and Tina Malia and was released in August,
1997. She has also contributed to the EarthBeat! compilation If A Tree Falls (which
includes songs by Bruce Cockburn, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Hank Williams Jr., Dan Fogelberg and
more) and has been featured on other compilations and has sung backing vocals on many
other recordings including Joanne Shenandoah's children's album All Spirits Sing.
"This lady's no shrinking violet.. a talent noteworthy in the extreme."(Rock n'
Reel, UK Music Magazine) Alices songs are universal acoustic anthems of love, healing,
humour, and emotion. A fun and relaxed performer, Alice brings her audience into the music
itself and creates an unusual and unforgettable concert experience. "Alice Di Micele
has a dynamism to her delivery....Not only does she back up her powerful voice with
heartfelt conviciton in every word, but her guitar ability is fast setting her
apart...." (Good Times, Santa Cruz,CA).
