I first became aware of Thomas Flannery when I received a call from an old, dear friend out on the East Coast. He was raving about some cat that had a song entitled, "Song About a Train." Now, I don't get too excited about train songs these days, inasmuch, that I don't think anyone can write anything else new about trains... And, believing that Steve Goodman wrote the all time great train song anyway... I listened to my very famous friend go on about this new Folksinger... Some days later, I noticed that Flannery was getting a bit more airplay on the Folk Radio Stations in the U.S. than most new artists normally would with their first CD... So, I called a DJ friend of mine and had him send me a cassette copy of the CD. I was skeptical at first, but, I must admit, this song was a new one...and, it was a good one... So, I ventured further into the works of Thomas Flannery...

After hearing the rest of Thomas' work, on his CD by the same title, "Song About A Train," I was impressed. The Folk Music World has long been my first, and only, love in life, and, I have been involved in this Folk World over 30 years now. So, I believe myself to be a fair judge of talent when it comes to folk music and good songwriting. I have seen the very Best, and, I have seen new faces come and go. I think Thomas Flannery, in his gentle, yet, Eastern Style, is going to be around a while... Anyway, I certainly hope so...In any event, take the time to listen to this new cat on the walk... He's worth your time...
