Biography and Background
Marty has been one of the busier session vocalists on the Sydney scene now for some years. His voice can be heard on TV and radio singing various jingles and themes for both local and overseas productions. Jingles for Oz Lotto, Optus Vision, Channel 7’s Olympics Theme and TV themes including Network 9’s Getaway and Good Medicine are just some of the more recent projects featuring Marty’s voice. The production houses he has worked with include Peter Kaldor’s Arizona Productions, Neil Sutherland’s Musication and Les Gock’s Song Zu.Following is a list going back over the past decade of some of Marty’s work:
1989 Live: Frontman/songwriter for award winning Sydney band The Clue Studio: Won Production Award for Best Recorded Original Work held at The Venue (now the Jet Club) at Dee Why, NSW. Sessions with Clive Shakespeare (ex Sherbert).
1990 Studio: Sessions with Clive Shakespeare and commenced a 3 year songwriting partnership with same.
1991 Live: Frontman for Ross Tisdell’s (ex Rose Tattoo) blues rock band, Sweetsmoke. Studio: Won Songwriting Award in National Song Contest with Clive Shakespeare.
1992 Live: Frontman for John Robinson’s re-formed Blackfeather. Formed successful duo "Off The Cuff" and spent 2 years working with this project.
Studio: Sessions with Clive Shakespeare and work on solo material.
1993 Live & Studio: Concentrated on writing and worked as solo artist with band.
1994 Live & Studio: Worked with songwriter/guitarist, Mike Caen, (ex Dragon, Jenny Morris, Rick Price, Living Daylights, Ana Christensen, Daryl Braithwaite Penny Flannagan & Margaret Urlich). Headlined with Mike at venues including The Harbourside
Brasserie & Round Midnight.
1995/96 Live: Frontman for popular concept band Best Of British.
1997 Studio: Concentrated further on various session projects and commenced work on a solo album, PATCHWORK, which was completed late 1997. This was engineered and produced by Marty, together with vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and session musician, Andy Payne, (ex Swingshift, Collette).
1998 Studio: Commenced work with Andy Payne on new album, SUNDANCER, which is due for release late 1998.
